What kind of developer are you?

Builder or Creator — two levels that decide how much of the workshop you see. Pick the one that fits, and change it whenever you like.

Making games can be as simple as snapping blocks together, or as deep as writing your own code and publishing to the world. So mebobox lets you choose how much you want to take on — a level — and grow into more when you’re ready.

One thing is the same at every level: you can make a game, play it on a mebobox, and share it with friends by its six-letter code straight away. The levels only change how much of the workshop is on screen.

Builder

Make games, from your first block to your own code. The perfect place to start — no typing, nothing to set up. You get Builder Lab with block coding, and you can play and share your games right away.

As you build, Builder Lab shows you the real code your blocks make, right beside them. You don’t have to read it — but it’s always there, so without even trying you start to see how the blocks you drag turn into actual programming. It’s a gentle, no-pressure way to pick up how code works.

And when blocks can’t quite do what you imagine, you don’t have to change anything about your account: turn on Edit right there in Builder Lab and edit your game’s files yourself. A save of your blocks is kept first, so you can always come back.

You can also ask for any game you make to be listed in the public Library — blocks or code, it makes no difference. Someone at mebobox has a look at it first.

Creator

The full workshop. Everything above, plus:

  • the Creator Hub — where you upload games made in other tools and manage everything you’ve made in one place;
  • My mebobox — connect your own console and see what’s installed on it.

Changing your level

You choose a level when you sign up, and you can change it any time from the Level button at the top of the page. Nothing you’ve made ever goes away when you switch — moving up simply shows you more, and moving down just tidies the view.
